“Working with SpeakSafe was not only educational but imperative for the students at our school’s safety. This program is extremely necessary as we consider the emotional wellbeing of young people and awareness around to trafficking. SpeakSafe training brought awareness and practical tools/info/resources to our staff and student community that we hadn’t had before. Without this program we wouldn’t have content like this to share with our community. I highly recommend their work as they seek to educate and reinforce prevention efforts in our communities.”

"I help organize a unique program that trains both mental health professionals and first responders in issues that both these professions jointly care about. SpeakSafe gave one of the most impactful presentations of the year. Marlene Capra and a group of young people provide up-to-date information and critical insights that could immediately be put to use, whether people are mental health students, mental health professionals, or first responders. We remain grateful for the connection to SpeakSafe, particularly in these rapidly changing times."

"Beginning to work with Speaksafe marked a pivot in my life where I was able to turn my own experience of abuse from that of a victimization to an opportunity growth and change. As I’m sure we’re all familiar, there has been a lot of emphasis on giving people their voice, their power to speak up on the issues that involve them and the ones they have the most passion for. Having a voice is synonymous with having the ability to enact real change, as your voice will be heard by others and valued. While SpeakSafe provides this platform for so many young people, it goes well beyond just giving us a voice. It also gives us a community, and through getting our voice, a community that we can trust, and the opportunity to give back to others who have endured similar experiences, it gives us purpose. Without SpeakSafe I don’t believe I would have understood the value of purpose in life as deeply as I do now, and that has permeated into all other aspects of my life. The opportunity to work with SpeakSafe has been a blessing, a pivotal moment, and has made me the person I am now as I write this. I could not be more grateful for how it has shaped me, and I hope others have the chance to do the same."

The Police Chiefs' Association had the pleasure of meeting Marlene Capra and her SpeakSAFE youth team when they presented their program to us. Their program is like no other as Marlene and her students are trusted messengers to youth in our community who are at risk of predatory or inappropriate behavior in our schools and community. The SpeakSAFE team provides crucial outreach, education and support to youth who may not realize they are victims of crimes and how to protect themselves. This support and education are crucial to safety and emotional and physical wellbeing of our youth. In addition to the presentation, some of us have known Marlene's work throughout the county and are most impressed with the educational awareness she provides along of youth in our community. SpeakSAFE has been educating our community about Human Trafficking, a crime that is finally being recognized and acknowledged nationally and locally for its devastating effects to the victims of this horrific crime. Marlene and her crew have done training in some of our departments, and they have been extremely valuable. We know that she has trained probation officers, school staff, medical personnel as well as law enforcement and they strive to continue this work while helping individual youth who need assistance. SpeakSAFE is a unique non-profit that has and will continue to support our youth from exploitation. We wholeheartedly support this work.New List Item
